Project Literacy's Latest Course Catalogue
Project Literacy is the leading provider of adult basic training for
educators and learners in South Africa. We lead the field with materials
and curriculum development and we lead with innovation and new endeavours.
Project Literacy's training courses and educator guides are aligned
to unit standards and fully incorporate all critical cross-field outcomes.
This means that participants can achieve credits through the National
Qualifications Framework (NQF) as Project Literacy is accredited by
the ETDQA to deliver these courses and has registered assessors in
place to assess participants. Project Literacy's accreditation number
is ETDP 0348.
This leading position has meant placing great emphasis on being thought
leaders in our field. Through vigorous intellectual debate we attempt
to answer the world's biggest challenge: the link between education,
training and poverty. This debate has resulted in practical programmes
ranging from parent/child literacy projects to the development of
courses which directly challenge the root causes of poverty and joblessness.
Serving the poor and marginalised communities of South Africa remains
an integral part of our work as we continue the challenge to source
donor funding to develop and uplift the poor and unemployed. The other
dimension to our work links the world of learning to the world of
work and career mobility.
Project Literacy employs an outcomes-based methodology for all the
courses it trains. Conducted through interactive groups and using
a problem solving approach, training events draw on the wealth of
experience and practical knowledge that participants bring with them.
This methodology encourages them to use the same approach when they
interact with adult learners.
With over 33 years experience as a training organisation, Project
Literacy presently provides training in over 35 different courses,
ranging from ABET Educator
training to higher level courses like Assessor, Moderator and Mentor
courses. In terms of their scope, the organisation also offers short
workshops on topics such as HIV/AIDs as well as full qualifications
that can take up to two years to complete. A Training Course Catalogue
is available on this website.
